A Sheepadoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Standard Poodle. They are utterly gorgeous, extremely friendly, and will love you and your family unconditionally. They are a designer breed, perfect for dog lovers looking for an obedient dog that's energetic, loving and kind.
First generation (F1) Sheepadoodles inherit the intelligence and active nature of the Sheepdog, and the non-shedding, smart and friendly nature of the Poodle. All in all, they're brilliantly well rounded as pets and would be a superb addition to your home. They're also super calm, sociable and obedient, which is why they're a favorite for families that have young children. Sheepadoodles also get along well with other dogs and pets too, as they're not overbearing or domineering.
Standard Sheepadoodles are usually medium to large pets. The standard-sized Sheepadoodle grows to about 60 to 80 pounds, and a maximum of 16 to 22 inches in height. They are in demand far and wide due to their utterly adorable good looks and charismatic charm. They are lovable and kind-hearted, and you'll want to cuddle them all day. They love exercise and stimulation, so keep those sneakers handy.
Sheepadoodles have a sturdy and solid build, with a square or rounded face, elongated at the snout. The skull has a broad look and appears dome shaped. They also have signature low hanging ears, and their eyes are small and set between medium length hair. Sheepadoodles are born black, white or both. Their colors are separated in well-defined spots that can appear randomly on any part of the body. This makes for some adorable looking puppies, some of whom almost look like Panda bears, which makes them even more endearing.
Sheepadoodles have an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years. That means you will have plenty of time with your new furry friend.
In general, the Sheepadoodle is a robust dog, since it comes from two different purebred dogs. They don't tend to have many health problems and enjoy the advantages of "hybrid vigor" - which means the tend to have fewer health issues than their parents due to crossbreeding. They inherit the best of both parents for happy, healthy life.
Sheepadoodles are mostly hypoallergenic, which means that they don't set off your sniffles and other allergy symptoms. They tend to have a medium to short and curly coat like their Poodle parent, and shed very minimally. You wont have hair all over your home, but you still need to brush, and groom your Sheepadoodle. Brushing at least once or twice a week gets rid of any matted fur.
Sheepadoodles are very confident animals that always want the approval of Mom and Dad. They're fast learners and obedient too. They can be taught to be watchdogs as they can recognize strangers and be trained to bark at them. However, there's nothing to be alarmed about as they're exceptionally gentle and will never hurt any family member. Training is pretty simple and easy to carry out.
One thing that is important to remember is that you should do early socialization as well as training that includes positive reinforcement - this way you'll get your Sheepdoodle on track to be a well-behaved member of your family. Sheepadoodles fit right in to a family with other pets, and children of all ages.
Sheepadoodles should have a diet that consists of high-quality kibble as they're so active. They should be fed at least 2-3 times a day, Give them small portions and adjust the amount of food you're giving them if they're putting on or losing weight. Don't, under any circumstances, have a free flow of food in the home as they tend to lose all self-control and overeat.
Goldendoodles are generally non-shedding and hypoallergenic (minimal dander), which is enough to make the perfect dog in our opinion.
Poodles consistently rank as one of the most intelligent dog breeds, while Golden Retrievers are ranked above average in intelligence as well. This makes training a breeze for most inexperienced dog owners.
Goldendoodles get their loveable personality from the Golden Retriever, which is widely regarded as an excellent family dog. Goldendoodles are remarkably non-aggressive and make great dogs for families with children.
Goldendoodles are known to benefit from the phenomenon of "hybrid vigor," which is a beneficial side effect of cross-breeding. While full-bred dogs are known to suffer from a variety of disorders as a result of generations of inbreeding, Goldendoodles have a much lower incidence of these disorders thanks to the genetic diversity of Poodles and Golden Retrievers.
Poodles are renown swimmers, and as a result, Goldendoodles love swimming as well. If you take a Goldendoodle to the beach or the lake, you can count on him enjoying the water as much as any human water-lover.
It's fair to say that nothing on earth is as cute as a Goldendoodle puppy. The grown ups are cute too!
Goldendoodles were originally bred as service dogs, and therefore have everything it takes to serve as a service animal for disabled adults and children alike.
Seriously, once you go non-shedding, you'll never go back. If you love the dopey and fun-loving personality of a Golden Retriever, but hate the shedding, then the Goldendoodle is the perfect dog for you.
Goldendoodles are full-sized dogs and pack a very intimidating bark. This is great if you want the reassurance of a scary sounding dog around the house to keep strangers and evil-doers away, but don't actually want an aggressive dog that you have to be worried about around kids and visitors.
Did you know that Usher, Jennifer Anniston and Tiger Woods, among others, own Goldendoodles? You can rest assured you are getting a playful and popular addition to your family.
